Introduced as tiny fingerlings in 1994 the two-acre Back Lake now boasts a phenomenal stock of carp
At least four fish have broken the 30lb barrier, with a very healthy stock of 20lb plus carp. Total stock is estimated at about 170 carp.
The Back Lake is the home to the complex record at 34lb 8oz with it's easily recognisable tail.
Good numbers large koi/ghost carp are resident adding variety, these fish are thought to be at least 23 years old. Some of these 'ornamentals' have broken the 20lb barrier, with one over 30lb.
Surrounded by mature trees the Back Lake has four islands, 13 swims and a few intimate stalking spots.
An eight-angler limit means you'll always have a reasonable amount of water to fish. To avoid any sense of overcrowding, there is a 'maximum of two anglers a bank' policy - unless you're friends on a social.
Double swims can be found on each of the four banks to cater for 'socials' or group bookings. Alternatively, if you're a lone angler, some swims allow you to tuck yourself away and enjoy some peace and quiet.
The Back Lake can also be exclusively booked, making it ideal for private parties.
